The Technical Committee for Energy Sustainable Palestinian Industry holding its Second Meeting – April 14, 2020

The Technical Committee for an Energy Sustainable Palestinian Industry conducted its
second meeting on policies and decision making.

The Technical Committee has been formed by the Ministerial resolution of the Palestinian Minister of National  Economy, H.E. Mr. Khalid Osaily, based on the initiative announced on December 03, 2020 by the Palestinian  Ministry of National Economy (MoNE), the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority (PENRA), and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in cooperation with different decision makers and stakeholders.

The meeting was held in the presence of the members of the Committee together with the UNIDO representatives and experts. The outputs and recommendations of the Roundtable Meeting conducted on December 15, 2020 were reviewed in order to outline a clear roadmap for the necessary steps to be undertaken to achieve the goals of the
Technical Committee and of UNIDO’s MOUSTDAMA Programme on sustainable energy.

The members ensured that the Committee’s main goal is to facilitate the implementation of the initiative for energy sustainable for the Palestinian industrial sector. The drafted Terms of Reference were reviewed and endorsed, the role of the Committee’s members clarified and agreed, and the prioritized interventions within the Ministerial Initiatives approved.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ahmed ElFarra, Head of Programme Office UNIDO, thanked the participants and expressed the commitment of UNIDO to support the industrial sector together with other governmental institutions, emphasizing the role of the Ministry of National Economy as main partner. Additionally, Mr. ElFarra highlighted
that the success of the MOUSTADAMA national initiative is important to improve the quality of the industrial sector, increase its competitiveness, and create new jobs in Palestine.
