The MOUSTADAMA Programme, implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with the Ministry of National Economy (MoNE), is delighted to announce that the Call for Applications for the 3rd Edition of the Palestine CleanTech Innovation Competition 2023 is now open for submissions.
Up to three prizes of up to 25,000 euros each will be awarded to entrepreneurs, startups, teams, and individuals who have a business idea or are already working on developing a prototype or a product in the field of clean energy solutions for industry.
Business ideas must fall into one of the following categories:
- Energy Efficiency (EE);
- Renewable Energy (RE);
- Water-Energy Nexus (Efficiency).
The submitted ideas will be evaluated by a technical jury that will finalize the selection based on three basic criteria:
- Team/Individual’s market fit together with business and technical skills;
- Product/Solution competitiveness, needed, innovation and scalability;
- Market potential, accessibility, and ability to find early adopters.
The selected applications will be then invited to participate in the Palestine Cleantech Acceleration Program, a 16-week acceleration journey - the first ever developed in Palestine - providing specialized business and technical mentorship to cleantech startups.
Cleantech encompasses technologies that cut emissions, improve the environment, and reduce the consumption of natural resources. Clean technologies use renewable energy sources like wind, solar, as well as low-carbon fuels, together with water management and recycling technologies, waste management techniques, and environmentally friendly buildings and transportation. In Palestine, the development of clean solutions is not only a strategic opportunity to meet the unfulfilled demand for water and energy, but also an opportunity to foster sustainable and inclusive development in a strategic sector that is expected to create 24 million new jobs by 2030.
