Priority interventions approved by Technical Committee

A new meeting of the Technical Committee for Sustainable Energy in the Industrial Sector gathered the representatives of the Ministry of National Economy, PENRA, PERC, the Palestinian Standards Institution, IPIEA, and UNIDO Palestine to engage in the discussions on the Road Map for the sustainable energy policy initiated by H.E. Mr. Khaled Osaily, Minister of National Economy.

The drafted priority interventions have been discussed and approved by the partners. Based on the adopted responsibility matrix, the Technical Committee agreed to form small teams to work on each intervention and hence expedite its implementation.

“The approved priority interventions will affect tangible positive impact on Palestinian industries. Through sustainable energy, it will be finally possible to reduce the industries’ energy bills, which exceeds up to 40% of their production costs”, highlighted Ahmed ElFarra, UNIDO Senior Programme Officer.

The Technical Committee also emphasized that the MOUSTADAMA’s Demonstration Projects on Sustainable Energy – that is to say a group of coordinated interventions which will include up to 120 energy audits and 90 Demo Projects to be realized in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip until 2023 - will represent a good opportunity to test and validate the new developed policies.
